Welp, today was a bit rougher all around. A higher number of meltdowns, less aggressive in nature but compounded with boredom made for a long, tiring day. R____ woke about 5am and crawled into bed with Mommy but thankfully fell asleep, cuddled up next to Mommy for another hour. Molly gave me until 7am and then our clan was up and in full effect. To combat the boredom, we decided to first walk/carry R___ down to the market to buy some produce (e.g. more pineapple, avocado, onion, tomato, garlic and lime and fresh baked chapatti) for lunch. After that R_____ and I gathered up all the dirty clothes and had a fine time doing our laundry in the buckets out back. I love to watch that guy work. He's a very serious worker and doesn't mess around with chores like laundry.
Molly made guacamole for lunch, with chapatti and a plate of oranges - a fantastic spread in my opinion. The afternoon consisted of meltdowns and playing soccer. At 3pm we got to Facetime with Sam and his kids, so that was fun and good to see them but then our driver showed up 45 minutes early to take us to the shopping mall to buy shoes and groceries and some other things. By the end of shopping, it was later than we hoped and things were becoming a bit testy, but we still had one big item left on the agenda. We were to meet some friends for dinner who had been touring the country. The cars pulled up in front of the hotel, right in the midst of Molly and I trying to negotiate a meltdown and out pops our neighbor from back home Randall Goodgame, dear friend Suzie Johnson and the ever kind Al Andrews and his son Hunter. I can't tell you how dang cool it is to see the right kind of friendly faces after a day like we had today. They and some others have been touring the work of Restore International with Bob Goff. We shared a big American meal, exchanged a few stories and then hit the road home to try and salvage the little man's bedtime ritual. It was a good way to end a blah day.
Hopefully next time I write, I'll have a little extra time to delve into this living situation. It's like being in a reality show, and in that show, you always have to have an antagonist. Oh boy, and we do.
Til next time...
I just spent the last hour reading through all your posts. I hate I haven't gotten to them before now. I am so happy for you guys and will be following more closely so I can pray more specifically. I will especially pray for R___, that God would work supernaturally to navigate all the transitions he is facing in these coming weeks. God is doing the work of building your family. What a beautiful thing! I look forward to hearing how He walks with you through the joyful moments, the sleeplessness, the meltdowns to weave you together as a family.
ReplyDeletefyi, you may want to reread the 2nd line of this post. an edit may be in order...
