Blurg. Literally.

So yesterday we had a lovely flight out of Nashville. Finally, it was just the two of us with nothing better to do than sit and decompress. Our conversation was light and easy as we reflected on how everything came together so fast (with much assistance from many) and spent time wondering aloud about this little person we're going to meet. We proffered guesses about the sound of his voice, if he'll gravitate to one or the other of us, if he'll look like his pictures and if so, which one. I personally hope he'll want to hold my hand, because I dream about holding his and showing him all new things. But if he doesn't, that'll be cool too. I mean, he is a little man after all.

So after that flight, we had a good plan for our flight to Brussels. Get on plane, take off, wait til the drink service finished then both slip an ambien and happily wake up in Brussels at 7a.m. the next morning. All was going according to plan: drink service? Check. Ambien? Check. Headphones in and watching 30 Rock while falling asleep? Check. Oh, hmmm, theres a bump or two, maybe i should reach out and hold on to my glass of !!!BLAMMO!!! What the..? !!!WHAM!!!

No lie, every single open drink on every single tray table shot straight up in a beautifully choreographed volcanic eruption, spraying the ceiling of the once nice Boeing 777 with all matter of color and liquid that rained down on us all in the aftermath. One of the flight attendants wasn't so lucky as she was injured when she and the other attendants hit the ceiling as well. I've been on a good number of flights in my life and i've never seen turbulence that drastic before. I was sopping wet and sticky from my neighbor's Sprite while I traded him a hue of red thanks to my still full glass of wine. Not sure which is worse, my sticky matted hair or him smelling like a hobo. Molly came out relatively unscathed except that she then became fairly nauseous and has pretty much been that way since. Not exactly the peaceful sleep we had hoped for, but we're not complaining.

We're just boarding the flight that will take us to Uganda with a brief stop in Rwanda. 10 more hours. If you're reading this early Saturday morning, say a quick prayer for us and Molly in particular that her queasiness will pass and that'll she'll be comfortable on this last leg.
